The first segment of the inquest was held from Monday, 25 May 2015 to Friday, 5 June 2015. The second segment of the inquest was held from Monday, 17 August 2015 to Friday, 4 September 2015.
A public 'opening' of the third segment, regarding ASIO and related security issues, was held on Wednesday, 18 November 2015. That segment was otherwise conducted as a closed court session.
The fourth segment of the inquest began on Monday, 21 March 2016 and continued to Wednesday, 17 August 2016. It examined the siege itself, and the response to, and management of, it by law enforcement.
The State Coroner's findings were delivered on Wednesday 24 May 2017.
